With the rapid development of global economic and trade, the ports in the North-east Asia region have developed rapidly. In such a fierce competition, how to ascertain right evaluation methods to assess the competitiveness of the ports, and make scientific and rational development strategy for upgrading the overall level of competitiveness of ports in Northeast Asia, has become the first task for all the ports for coping with the challenges and achieving promoting.

Since the reform and opening up, China has become a maritime power in the world. Ocean shipping plays an irreplaceable role in China's foreign trade. Improvement of China's economy and continuous increase of trade in Northeast Asia have made China as the number one in the world in container transport. As one of the main characteristics of the port's development, the port's economy can help to improve the economy of its city and hinterland effectively.

Tianjin port which is the biggest international trade port in northeast China. Tianjin Binhai New District has incorporated in <CPC Central Committee on the outline of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development proposals> which had adopted by The Fifth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee. However, the competitions between ports are getting intense, the construction of Northeast Asia shipping center is in the ascendant, which bring new opportunity and challenge to the development of Tianjin port logistics. Therefore, Tianjin should according to its characteristics, integrating port resources, exert great efforts in developing port logistics, thus promoting regional economic development. Therefore, it is necessary to make the main study on the development strategy of Tianjin port logistics.

Firstly the research makes some objective estimates of Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai Ports in China. Then, makes some analysis on the competition situation of Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai Ports in China, clearly confirm the position of Tianjin Port in this region and its major competitors.

Secondary, on the basis of the SWOT analysis of the Tianjin Port, combined with the comprehensive and practical port competitiveness evaluation indicators system and competitiveness evaluation method, calculate the competitiveness level of Tianjin port in North China, and find out the problems must be solved. Such as : the lack of water depth

balance the Container logistics development of northern center, increase our competitive power and also enlarge green logistics, and improve port management services.
