dc.description.abstract | This thesis dealt with the condensing technology of LED(Light Emitting Diode) light using a parabolic reflector to develop a LED searchlight to replace a 1kW xenon searchlight. A simulation was conducted to analyze the influence of the diameter of the reflector and the size of the light source on the light condensing. A combination of the parabolic reflector with a diameter of 620mm and a focal length of 220mm, and a LED package with a diameter of 9mm showed the narrowest beam angle. The proposed light condensing system consists of a 95W MCP(Multi Chip Package) type LED with total luminous flux of 7,800lm, a parabolic reflector, a heatsink and a water cooler. The center luminous intensity was measured 7.7×106cd. The distance between the light source and the point where the illumination intensity was 1lx was calculated to be 2.8km. The power consumption of the system was 95W, only 9.5% in comparison with the 1kW xenon searchlight, and the beam angle was 1°, resulting improved light condensing efficiency. In this thesis, a reflector with a diameter of 620mm was applied, but it is that a compact LED searchlight with a diameter up to 280mm can be developed by considering the curvature radius of the parabolic reflector. | - |
