In this thesis, we propose a cluster duplication algorithm in wireless sensor networks. In the cluster-based protocol, a cluster head aggregates the data from the individual nodes. In general, wireless networks environment has the same data between neighbor nodes. Using two features mentioned above, the proposed algorithm is designed to enhance the energy efficiency of system network. A pair of nodes between neighbors becomes a group, and one of the group is in turn active and the other is idle during one round. There is also two cluster heads in a cluster, and in turn they aggregate the data from the nodes.
We evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm using the computer simulation and compare it with the LEACH. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithm is able to offer better performance than the LEACH in terms of energy efficiency.
