dc.description.abstract Nowadays, numerous systems and devices are connected to networks in ships. These devices and systems generate various kind of data and information, and exchange them each other. Therefore, it is required to integrate data and information in ships, and also develop systems which can supervise and process the integrated data and information. So, it needs to collect data from each device, integrate and manage them, and provide them with proper processing when services are asked. According to these needs, a system architecture for the processing and management of data and information is apparently required. Briefly, the system architecture is made of three parts. The first part is Gateway which transforms data transmitted from NMEA 2000 networks to tag data, the second one is Middleware Server that stores and manages the transformed data. the last one is Application that provides users with properly processed information. In this paper, before designing system which can works in IEC 61162-4 networks, the NMEA 2000 standard is first discussed. Besides that, we also discuss on the transformation of NMEA 2000 data and network protocols. According to the analyzed protocols, this paper designs messages that are transmitted in IEC 61162-4 networks, marshalling and de-marshalling of basic data types and arrays, and message packing and message unpacking. -
