dc.description.abstract This thesis dealt with the economic analysis on the application of shipboard LED(Light Emitting Diode) luminaires to replace the incandescent and fluorescent luminaires, which account for 80% of the lighting on training and naval vessel. The reduction ratios of power consumption, initial investment, maintenance and management cost, and cost of fuel were analyzed. The break-even points were also calculated. In addition, the CO2 emissions and cross sectional areas of cable were compared and their reduction ratios were analyzed. For the training vessel, the initial investment was increased by 3.8 times, while 51% of the maintenance and management cost for five years was reduced. When 40%, 50% and 60% of luminaires were turned on, the calculated break-even points were 11 months, 9 months, and 7 months, respectively. On the other hand, the initial investment was increased by 3.5 times and the maintenance and management cost for five years was saved by 55% for the naval vessel. The break-even points were calculated as 15 months, 12 months, and 10 months, respectively. Moreover, the CO2 emissions of training vessel and naval vessel were reduced by 69% and 65%, respectively. The cost of selected cables on the training vessel was saved by 51%. The economic effects of two types of vessels were revealed with reductions over than 50%. In this thesis, results were calculated with the assumption that the same enclosures were used. In case the integrated LED luminaires are used, the break-even points may be advanced. Further, an LED is driven by constant current, if the DC 24V in a power system of shipboard are applied without the SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply), the initial investment and power consumption can be reduced more. As a result, a desirable economic effect can be achieved. -
