dc.description.abstract This study is carried out to investigate the combustion characteristics and durability of a diesel engine utilizing emulsified fuel. Recently, air pollution from the vehicle is one of the most serious problem . NOx, PM and sfc reduction is further required in diesel engines. In this study, for the reduction of harmful emissions, W/O(water in oil) type emulsified fuels with 13%, 15%, 17% water are used. Piezo-electric pressure sensor is used to get combustion pressure in cylinder and exhaust gas analyzer is used to measure exhaust emissions. Specific fuel consumption, sound level, and maximum torque are also measured. It was ascertained that the results show the 15% water emulsified fuel is good for NOx and PM reduction simultaneously and does not have much effect on a fuel consumption and a durability. -
