- Target signal scattered from submerged object in the water contains information on the characteristics of target such as the external and internal structure as well as the aspect angle of the target. In order to investigate and to relate the characteristics of signal to the physical properties of the target, it is necessary to build a target signal measurement system in the acoustic water tank. In this thesis, a multi-static measurement system in the acoustic water tank for the scaled target is developed to investigate the scattering mechanism. The acoustic measurement system consists of a single transmitter and 16 receivers around the target to form a multi-static system. The target can be assembled into up to 6 configurations from the various external and internal sections. Also, the rotation of the target at arbitrary increment is automated to measure the target signals for the entire aspect angle. Finally, the measured time series are presented and analyzed to verify the developed measurement system.
