한진해운 사태 관련 언론의 역할 분석

Abstract

Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd. was a South Korean integrated logistics and container transport company. Prior to its financial demise, it was South Korea's largest container line and one of the world's top ten container carriers in terms of capacity. Hanjin shipping formerly operated some 60 liner and tramper services around the globe transporting over 100 million tons of cargo annually. On February 17, 2017, Hanjin Shipping Co. was declared bankrupt by South Korean courts.

On this many criticism have raised accusing inadequate of the government decision domestically, and even internationally Alphaliner pointed South Korean government’s policy decision to let Hanjin Shipping Co., go bankrupt as a political mistake.

From the beginning of Hanjin crisis domestic news media has produced reports day by day on the cause and measures but most of them seem to deliver the government’s announcement and option with little in depth analysis.

Therefore, this study aims at analysing the role of news media in relation with Hanjin crisis. For this it reviews news papers’reports on Hanjin Crisis and conducts a questionnaire survey. Finally it derives some implication on the role of news media.
