Abstract

The domestic duty free shop market has been consistently growing with annual 18.4% growth rate since 2011 based on world's highest sales figure and contributed to economic vitalization and job creation.

However, the regulation in the area has been greatly reinforced as the policies have changed rapidly to resole social criticism that the duty free shop let certain large corporate share monopolistic benefits and to support both small and mid-sized businesses.

The duty free shop restricts period of patent and number of patent based on The Customs Law. There are problems such as unstable employment, business permanence due to termination of patent in accordance with patent system of the duty free shop.

Thus, this study aims to point out problems of current patent system of the domestic duty free shop and suggest proper measures.

By suggesting improvement measures for patent system of the duty free shop, this study aims to contribute to creation of high quality jobs, stable employment of duty free shop workers, and enhance future certainty of businesses to vitalize investment and improvement of the duty free shop system.
