With people's income and leisure time increased in the world today, as well as the raise of the need level, the size of sea's tourism market is expanding now. Meanwhile, due to the increase of the people's income in recent years, and the popularity of work for five days per week, and the changes on holiday and entertainment culture, Korean shipping companies have begun to introduce and operate the cruise. But Korea's domestic cruise industry is still in the initial stage.
The objectives of this study are to investigate the Korea's cruise tourism industry and to analyze activation elements of the Korea's cruise tourism industry. This study used Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) analysis as a research method.
The findings of this study are as follows:
First of all, in order to resolve the foreign tourists' communication problem in Korea, it is important to develop education programs to train translators and guides. In addition, it is necessary to effectively develop traditional cultural heritages such as Korea's cultural life and festival experience.
Secondly, a variety of facilities in cruise and a lot of interesting cruise events are good for cruise tourist industry's competitiveness.
Thirdly, the public information about the calling port makes foreign tourists get out from cruise and have a tour in Korea.
Fourth, the convenience transportation is also a very important essential factor.
Finally, the immigration procedures for cruise passengers should be simplified and transit passenger policies that waive the immigration procedures for transit passengers at transit ports must also be adopted to promote the cruise industry.
