Two novel subsurface antennas for remote management of underground facilities using wireless network are proposed. Operating frequency bands are PCS(1.75 ~ 1.78GHz, 1.84 ~ 1.87GHz) and Cellular(824 ~ 849 MHz, 869 ~ 894 MHz) bands. The proposed subsurface antenna is a dual band circular patch which is inserted and molded for the protection of the antenna into a metal such as a manhole cover. Considering the resonant frequency shift of the antenna due to the insertion and molding, the antenna is designed. The measured return loss and receiving power of the fabricated antenna comparison with dipole shows that two proposed subsurface antenna can be used for remote management of underground facilities using PCS and cellular systems.
