The recent logistics environment requires the various services through the information technology, and the widespread internet has helped fuel changes in the industry paradigm. Also as the import-export traffic with China is increasing, the service requests of shipping companies are increasing, too. Therefore it is necessary to implement the batch processing service for import-export distribution by enlarging the existing service model and connecting and integrating the logistic information system with it according to changes in the new logistics environment.
The purposes of this study are as follows.
First, this study examined the problems of the existing intermodal transportation system to establish the enhanced intermodal transportation system for domestic import-export freight informatization, and proposed the web-based CY operating system as a scheme to solve the deduced problems. Second, this study intended to investigate the methodology for establishing the optimal CY operating system by conducting an in-dept case study on the web-based CY operating system of D, which is in the stage of completing the establishment. Third, this study intended to show the expected results after establishing and conducting the web-based CY operating system of D, quantitatively and qualitatively.
The practical implications obtained from the case study on the web-based CY operating system of D are as follows First, the role mediation and the close connecting system establishment is necessary to remove redundancy among information systems by studying the problems of the existing import-export logistic information system.
Second, to make Off Dock system informational and IT-oriented, of which operation is not going on smoothly compared to container exclusive terminals, not only investment but also the mind changes and educations of members should be followed. Also especially CEO's will should be reflected as an important factor.
Third, the difference of success and fail of the web-based CY operating system introduction depends on whether a user utilizes the system effectively or not. While establishing and executing the system, the overall participation on the new work process should be led. The productivity will improve when it focuses on the field which is able to show the viable results. Also the continuos educations and workshops are required to prepare against the situation that the confusion happens in business, bounded by the existing method. Lastly it needs to encourage staffs by evaluating occasionally the usability and satisfaction of the established system.
