A composite material is a macroscopic combination of two or more distinct materials, having been designed with mechanically and chemically better function and characteristic than its original individual material.
Fiber reinforced composite materials has various advantages in terms big
specific strength and modulus, environmental isolation, aromatic property, easy fabrication and integration.
Various application of composite materials not only for space shuttle and aerospace but also boat building and common industries has been increased.
There are many fabrication such as fuselage of aircraft and helicopter blade at an autoclave. Car bumpers were made by RTM(Resin Transfer Molding).
According to filament winding process having high strength and modulus carbon fiber with epoxy resin, many pressure vessel have been fabricated.
Aerospace market has sharply increased lately so airframe part makers started to make big carbon composite products. Shipbuilding market are using composite materials hulls and decks. Sporting goods makers are widening its application as well.
Regardless of these various usage of composite materials, the application of the materials for industry are still limited and required better fabrication technology.
In order to develop composite fabrication technology being applied to real product, continual academic and scientific study is required.

Most of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and PDP(Plasma Display Panel) production lines are using aluminum pallets. In case of the aluminum pallets, even if its evaluation technology has been accumulated so far, there is rare evaluation of technology to use composite products on the LCD/PDP production line.
A composite pallet that fiber reinforced epoxy matrix comparing with current metallic ones can be reduced significant weight saving and give us economical advantages.
Commonly, composite materials were known the ability of the significant vibration damping such that it help us minimization of error due to vibration on production line. It can reduce twisted vibration and help us productivity.
Current aluminum pallet having heavy weight makes high vibration and needs more bearings. The composite pallets for the digital display production line can be fabricated either autoclave process or better productivity one, which become light-weight, easy maintenance and economic point. Between composite materials and metals, there has been developed better adhesive technology such that not only a complete composite pallet can be producted but other additional composite parts can be fabricated in terms of co-curing process. It is surely required to design and to evaluate of the products.
Therefore, in order to make advanced composite pallet on digital display production line, this study will analyze stress of the composite pallet according to the theory of composite materials stress analysis and design the advanced composite pallet.
At the result of above, I want to make some advanced composite pallets and to evaluate various characteristics.
Through this study, I am trying to develop a composite pallet on the display production line which has many advantages just like more weight saving, better mechanical property than current aluminum one.
Moreover, it can make the base of new application for other industry.
This study is trying to show design of the thickness of skinning material and core through stress analysis of the pallet on the display production line.
Some specimen by autoclave process will be prepared.
And it can make possible to evaluate fiber areal weight and
mechanical/chemical/thermal properties, eventually I verify the possibility of the use of composite pallet and will develop a high performance advanced composite pallet.
