Abstract
To figure out what types of the effect would be developed by information and communication technology ICT-based lesson that provokes abundant interactions among students, as well as by the lesson, which adopted web-based online item pool system, to expand students’ understanding about the basic theories relative to electricity and electronics chapter, and also to build up students’ capability in self-directed learning, the following research activities were implemented with a focus on the electricity and electronics chapter, which is difficult to learn for both male and female students, in the technology and home economics curriculum for the middle school 3rd graders.
•
Having produced web-based online item pool system with purpose of attracting an ever-continuing interests of students in accordant with differentiated level and item difficulty, and having applied it to webpage-based lesson, a comparative analysis was conducted by comparing it with direct instructional lesson.
To perform the researches and analyses above, two classes of middle school 3rd grade were selected as the subject of the test, the relevant jobs and activities were performed accordingly. This research also input questionnaire, paper and pencil test, complementary learning materials, performance assessment, etcetera into both the test and reference class to verify the effectiveness of the self-directed learning.
All results together indicates that students have come to be able to improve their required technology and ability for solving the learning problems through means of applying the ICT- based teaching-learning method, in which the interactions among members are so abundant, as well as online test bank system, and also the research results showed that students could expand their capability in self-directed learning by such method and system.
However, there is still lack of materials for variety of learning activities in order for ICT-based lesson, also it is necessary to exert more efforts in developing methods to make best use of materials, including effective way to input the materials that developed according to teaching-learning model and its timing, etcetera.
Moreover, it is required to enlarge the relevant facilities in order to develop online item pool system as well as to build up adequate environments therefor, and, with a proper adjustment of the level of difficulty of test items to fit the level of students, it shall also be required to seek a method to develop varied item pool system with which students can develop their inquiry ability.
To conduct ICT-based lesson, contents of electricity and electronics chapter were analyzed, having linked it to the contents of the curriculum, and Power Point presentation material using teaching-learning model was produced.
