Abstract
Abstract

Investment in the wind power industry has gained in popularity over the last decade as a result of the reduction in the use of fossil fuel in order to combat environmental pollution.

Coastal nations are especially interested in developing offshore wind farms as ‘Green energy’due to their location.

Offshore wind farms are more expensive to build than onshore wind farms because of reasons like the construction cost of foundations, the extraneous transportation and installation methods and the high cost of purpose built capital equipment synonymous with offshore wind turbine projects.

As the capacities of wind turbines have increased

Topside Structure
Mast Clamping System
the weights, heights and volumes of the wind turbines have also consequently increased requiring an adaptation of the increased capacity installation equipment and relevant vessels in terms of transportation and installation capacities to suit the additional requirements.

This situation creates many different alternative installation method statements that can increase or decrease the transportation and installation performance.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new method statement for the installation of offshore wind turbine topside structures such as, ‘The Method Statement for the Installation of Offshore Wind Turbine Topside Structure by using Mast Clamping System'.

This method statement shall ensure that the work is executed safely and efficiently and may potentially reduce the project construction period and save the project cost by utilizing this developed technology effectively.
